Luis Suarez has committed his future to Inter Miami, signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club through the 2025 season.
The 37-year-old Uruguayan striker joined the Major League Soccer (MLS) side in December 2023, reuniting with former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi. In his debut season, Suarez was pivotal, scoring 25 goals in all competitions and helping Miami secure their first-ever Supporters’ Shield title.
Miami’s historic campaign saw them set a new MLS regular-season points record of 74. However, their impressive run ended in disappointment after a first-round play-off exit against Atlanta United.
Speaking about his new deal, Luis Suarez expressed his excitement and gratitude. “I’m very happy, very excited to continue for another year and to be able to enjoy being here with this fanbase, which for us is like family,” he said. “We feel very, very connected with them, and hopefully, next year, we can bring them even more joy.”
The announcement of Suarez’s contract extension comes shortly after Miami appointed Javier Mascherano, another of Suarez’s former Barcelona teammates, as head coach. Mascherano replaces Gerardo Martino, who stepped down following the conclusion of the 2024 season.
