Yamal’s return sparked Barca’s dominant win – Flick

Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal made a triumphant return to Barcelona’s starting lineup, inspiring a commanding 5-1 victory over Mallorca, manager Hansi Flick revealed. Yamal’s return from a four-week ankle injury layoff marked a turning point for Barca, ending their three-match winless streak in La Liga.

During Yamal’s absence, Barcelona managed only one point in three games, allowing Real Madrid to narrow the gap at the top. His comeback, however, reignited the team’s spark.

“Lamine Yamal was crucial for us today,” Flick told Movistar Plus. “He always brings positivity to the team. He could’ve scored a goal or two, but his overall performance was outstanding.”

Despite Mallorca briefly equalizing, Barcelona maintained their dominance, with the entire squad delivering a strong performance. Notably absent was La Liga’s top scorer, Robert Lewandowski, who was rested after starting all 20 of Barca’s previous matches.

“Lewandowski needed a rest,” Flick explained. “Ferran Torres stepped in brilliantly, scoring the opener. He’s always ready when called upon.”

With this victory, Barcelona sits atop the La Liga standings with 37 points, four ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, who have two games in hand. Atletico Madrid trails in third with 32 points and one game in hand. Yamal’s return could prove pivotal as Barca aims to maintain their lead in the title race.
