Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey scored a sensational goal for Brighton & Hove Albion, but the Seagulls squandered a two-goal lead to settle for a 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
Tariq Lamptey opened the scoring late in the first half with a spectacular strike. Cutting inside from the right wing, the 23-year-old curled a left-footed shot into the top corner, leaving Leicester’s goalkeeper with no chance. The goal, a rare moment of quality in an otherwise scrappy first half, highlighted Lamptey’s attacking flair.
Brighton doubled their lead late in the second half through Yankuba Minteh, who dazzled with a solo effort, weaving through defenders before finding the net.
Despite Brighton’s dominance, Leicester refused to give up. Jamie Vardy clawed one back in the closing minutes, pouncing on a defensive error. Moments later, Vardy set up Bobby De Cordova-Reid for a dramatic equaliser, ensuring a share of the spoils for the home side.
The draw sees Brighton miss a chance to break into the Premier League‘s top five. However, Lamptey’s standout performance, capped by his wonder goal, remains a major positive for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
