Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes lauded Amad Diallo as “unstoppable” following the winger’s last-minute goal in United’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
City took the lead through Josko Gvardiol’s first-half header, but Fernandes equalized from the penalty spot in the 88th minute. Two minutes later, Diallo sealed the win with a decisive strike, earning United their first derby triumph under new manager Ruben Amorim.
Fernandes praised Diallo’s impact, saying, “He showed it today again. He’s always happy, he’s always alive, and this is why he gets the penalty, this is why he gets his goal. When he’s like this, he’s unstoppable.”
Diallo, who has thrived under Amorim’s leadership, expressed his delight after being named Man of the Match in the Premier League game. “We wanted to win the game. This is the derby; if you play this game, you have to win,” Diallo said.
Fernandes also acknowledged the team’s ongoing adjustment to Amorim’s tactics. “It’s a process,” he explained. “We know what he demands, what he wants from us. We’ve been training for new routines and different positions, and we’re sticking to it no matter what happens in the game.”
