Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has fueled speculation about his future at the club, expressing his readiness for a “new challenge” during an interview with football writer Henry Winter.
The 27-year-old, who has been with United since the age of seven, shared his thoughts while visiting his former school, where he distributed Christmas presents. Rashford’s comments come amidst ongoing rumors linking him with a move away from Old Trafford.
“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford said. “When I leave, it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings.’ You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.”
Rashford emphasized his desire to handle his departure with grace, contrasting his approach with how other players have left the club in the past.
His remarks follow his exclusion from Sunday’s Manchester derby victory, where United edged City 2-1. Manager Ruben Amorim cited maintaining high standards as the reason for leaving Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of the squad.
Despite scoring three goals under Amorim’s brief tenure, Marcus Rashford has yet to regain the form that saw him net 30 goals in the 2022-23 season. However, the England international remains optimistic about his future.
“I’m halfway through my career. I don’t expect my peak to be now,” Rashford stated. “I’ve had nine years in the Premier League, which has taught me a lot and helped me grow as a player and as a person.”
Rashford’s potential departure would mark the end of an era for the club, as he has been a key figure since breaking into the first team. For now, fans await clarity on his future and whether he will remain part of United’s plans moving forward.
