MTN FA Cup: Kotoko edge past Accerler8z to seal last 16 spot

Share

Asante Kotoko booked a place to the last 16 of the MTN FA Cup with a 2-0 victory over Accerler8z FC on Sunday, January 12.

Kwame Opoku and Henry both netted for Kotoko to secure the win over the lower tier side in the last 32 round.

Saaka Dauda earned a penalty for his team in the final minutes of the first half after he was brought down by the goalkeeper for rounding him.

Opoku had scored in his previous two games and converted from 12 yards to open the scoring for the Kumasi-based side.

The Porcupine Warriors could have extended the lead on the day, yet failed to do so as they continuously missed clear cut chances in the game.

Accerler8z created very few opportunities to trouble Kotoko with the latter seeing much of the ball on the day.

Only when the game seemed to be ending 0-1, Ansu grabbed the second for Kotoko to wrap up the victory and send Prosper Narteh Ogum‘s side to the next round of the FA Cup.
