People can judge me but I trained under Klopp – Otto Addo to critics after AFCON failure

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has responded to his critics after being heavily criticized as Ghana failed to book a ticket to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Otto Addo has a 28 percent win rate in his two stints as Black Stars head coach and is under heavy ridicule from the fans and the media to be sacked in the coming days.

Otto Addo has however hit back, and says although many are focused on the results, he possesses and offers more as he has been trained to be a coach by many greats in football.

“I trained under Sammer, I was trained under Klopp. I was assistant to Edin Terzic who was Dortmund coach. They are also critical of some things but this has much more value if  speak to Jurgen Klopp and he says this or that than somebody from anywhere saying bla bla this is bad.”

“People can judge me and surely most of the people can judge me by the results which were not good.”

Addo’s words have since triggered many fans to react as Ghanaians believe he should be relieved of his duties while they expect that the GFA resigns.

Ghana face Niger at home on Monday and Ottto Addo’s side will be aiming to end their horrific show at the qualifiers with a victory, which would be their first in the series.

Addo stated candidly in his post match conference that his team lacked the much-needed intensity to match Angola and grab all three points on Matchday five to keep their qualifying chances alive.

“Angola did not have anything to lose. They pressed better than we did. We were missing their intensity and were not good enough.”

“In these tournaments you have to win your home games. It’s very difficult to win away but these games are important because everyone wants to get up there”
