National Sports Authority (NSA) board chairman, Seth Panwum has candidly called for Black Stars coach Otto Addo to be sacked immediately.
Panwun made the comments after Ghana’s disastrous 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers campaign in which they lost their last game 2-1 to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
Monday’s defeat, which was Ghana’s first at the Accra Sports Stadium in sixteen years was disappointing and the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for next year’s tournament has become the bigger issue.
Seth Panwum, the NSA boss candidly stated in an interview on Angel FM that “Otto Addo must be sacked because he was given a performance contract and he has failed to perform.”
Ghana for the first time in the history of the qualifiers after Monday’s defeat failed to win a single match in the series and were ridiculed by their own fans at the Stadium.
Loads of noise now surrounds the GFA’s next decision on Otto Addo, with many calling for his resignation.
Ghana finished bottom of Group F with just three points, and have themselves to blame for missing Africa’s showdown for the first time in 20 years.
The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council will meanwhile review the team’s lackluster performance in the qualifiers on Wednesday, November 20 and come to a decision on its future.
However with Ghana’s current financial situation and the new contract afforded Addo, he is reportedly unlikely to be sacked at the upcoming meeting.
