Leicester City head coach, Steve Cooper has provided an update on the fitness of Jordan Ayew, confirming the Black Stars striker could feature in this weekend’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, after he picked up an injury on international duty.
Ayew, who scored a superb free kick for Ghana in their 1-1 draw against Angola, suffered an injury in that fixture which ruled him out of Ghana’s final AFCON qualifier against Niger.
However, Cooper, in his pre match press conference confirmed that tests revealed the injury was not as bad as feared.
“It’s not a serious injury contrary to some reports. The hope is he may be available for the weekend but we’re a little bit inconclusive on that for the minute,” Cooper said.
His fellow country man and teammate, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, was however not as lucky, as his injury on international duty has ruled him out for the season after successfully undergoing an ACL surgery.
Jordan Ayew has scored twice for Leicester City in the Premier League this season, including a winner, in match week 8, away at Southampton, and will be aiming to improve his form and eventually end the season on a high.
