Aboubakar Ouatarra refuses to blame players after Kotoko defeat

Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouatarra has chosen not to fault any of his players following their narrow 1-0 loss to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in Matchday 13 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians, who had been impressive away from home this season, saw their unbeaten run on the road end at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Albert Amoah’s goal, resulting from a defensive mix-up between Kelvin Osei Assibey and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, secured victory for the Porcupine Warriors.

Despite his disappointment, the Ivorian tactician refrained from singling out any players for criticism. “I don’t want to blame any player, but when you are big and go to the supermarket, don’t bring any small attackers, and that is the problem,” Ouatarra said post-match.

The loss leaves Hearts of Oak in 7th place on the league table with 19 points. The team will look to bounce back in their next fixture, a home clash against Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Matchday 14.
