Agyemang-Badu urges Black Galaxies to attack in clash against Nigeria

Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has called for a bold and offensive approach from the Black Galaxies in their second-leg clash against Nigeria in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

The first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium ended in a goalless draw, leaving everything to play for in the return fixture on December 28 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

“We should be very careful not to go and defend,” Agyemang-Badu emphasized. “This is only one game, and when you lose, you are not going anywhere. We can’t do that because, mind you, we didn’t qualify for the [2025] Africa Cup of Nations. If the CHAN too, we don’t qualify, then there will be a little bit of disaster.”

The former midfielder, who represented Ghana in the 2009 CHAN tournament, stressed the importance of the game and urged the team to give their all. “They [the Black Galaxies] should go all out and win the game for us in the return leg,” he added.

The stakes are high, with the winner securing a spot in the CHAN 2025 tournament, set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Ghana is aiming to repeat their triumph over Nigeria in the last qualifiers, where they edged out their rivals on penalties to advance.
