Andre Ayew shines for Le Havre in their 2-1 defeat to Lens

Share

Andre Ayew continued his impressive form and he netted his second Ligue 1 goal of the season for Le Havre in their 2-1 defeat to RC Lens last weekend.

His early strike was however not enough to prevent Le Havre from suffering the home loss to RC Lens.

Ayew, who scored against former club Marseille last week, wasted no time making an impact.

The Ghanaian forward capitalized on a rebound from Hervé Koffi’s save in the ninth minute, and slotted the ball home to give Le Havre an early advantage.

Le Havre failed to build on Andre Ayew’s opener and it ended in the loss.

Yoann Salmier squandered a good chance to double the lead, and Lens debutant Goduine Koyalipou restored parity before the halftime whistle.

The visitors seized control in the second half, applying relentless pressure that culminated in Deiver Machado’s decisive 77th-minute strike. Lens secured the victory, extending Le Havre’s losing streak to six matches.

With this defeat, Le Havre remains in a precarious position, as they now sit four points away from safety in their battle against relegation.

Despite the team’s struggles, Ayew’s consecutive goals show he’s determined to lift his side and provide a beacon of hope as they fight to reverse their fortunes.
