Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has vowed to return stronger following an ankle injury sustained during a La Liga match against Leganés on December 15. The 17-year-old winger, a key figure in Spain’s Euro 2024-winning campaign, has been sidelined for up to four weeks due to the setback.
In a heartfelt video shared on Barcelona’s social media platforms, Yamal expressed his determination to recover fully and continue his remarkable season.
“I am in a recovery process which I am very sure I will come back better from and with more determination,” Yamal said. “When you stop playing for a while, that’s when you realise your work, what you are doing, and I will come back better than ever.”
Reflecting on the incident, he downplayed the severity, calling it “just bad luck” from a challenge on his ankle, adding that such injuries “can happen to anyone.”
Yamal has been a standout performer for Barcelona this season, contributing six goals and 12 assists in just 20 appearances. His absence was felt during the Catalans’ 2-1 home loss to Atletico Madrid on December 21, a result that further dented their La Liga title hopes.
