Black Galaxies gear up for crucial return leg against Nigeria

Black Galaxies head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has shifted focus to the return leg of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Nigeria. This comes after a goalless draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, December 22.

The decisive second leg is set to take place on Saturday, December 28, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. The winner will secure a spot in the 2024 CHAN tournament, hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Reflecting on the first leg, Dramani emphasized the importance of preparation. “When we don’t qualify, there is still positive. What is positive about this is that these boys have been exposed to a certain level of our Ghanaian league,” he noted. “We are expressing our domestic competition structure to the rest of Africa and the world.”

The former Black Stars assistant coach is resolute about the team’s mission. “We are not even thinking about the past; we are focused on preparing, getting to Nigeria, and delivering on the pitch,” he said.

Ghana aims to repeat history by qualifying ahead of Nigeria for the second consecutive CHAN tournament.
