Black Maidens Win The Inaugural WAFU ZONE B U-17 Girls Cup

The Black Maidens have won the inaugural edition of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls cup after beating Super Flamingos of Nigeria at the Ghanaman Soccer centre of Excellence at Prampram.

As usual a Ghana Nigeria game has got it’s Intensity and this is no other as both teams displayed pace and pulsating end-to-end action.

Kumasi Sports Academy, Gertrude Amoafoa opened the scoring for Ghana’s Black Maidens in the 13th Minute of the game. Just five minutes later, Priscilla Mensah of Sissamba Ladies doubled the Maidens lead and Ghana ended the first half leading 2-0.

After the recess, the Flamingos came back stronger and pressed on the Maidens and got a goal in the 53rd minute kind courtesy of Precious Chiemerie Oscar.

Chidera Harmony in the 78th minute equaliser brought the game to 2-2.

With neither side able to find the winner in regulation time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout and the Black Maidens edged out Nigeria 5-4 in the penalty shootout to win the WAFU Zone B U17 Girls Cup.
