The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in prize money for the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to be hosted across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The winning team of the CHAN 2024 tournament will now receive $3.5 million, a 75% increase from the previous edition. Additionally, the total prize pool for the tournament has been raised to $10.4 million, marking a 32% rise.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe expressed enthusiasm about the tournament’s growth and its role in developing Africa-based football talent.
“The CHAN is crucial for nurturing African players and enhancing the global competitiveness of African football. This prize increase reflects our commitment to investing in African football and making it more appealing to fans, broadcasters, and sponsors worldwide,” said Dr. Motsepe.
