Celta Vigo ready to ship Ghanaian Defender Joseph Aidoo out on loan

La Liga outfit, Celta Vigo, are considering a loan move for Ghanaian defender Joseph Aidoo ahead of the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old center-back, who is coming back from a lengthy injury, has faced challenges in regaining his confidence and match fitness, though there has been significant progress in recent weeks.

The Ghanaian defender has been out for months after rapturing his achilles, an injury which brought a premature end to his 2023/24 season for both club and country.

His first start of the season came against UD San Pedro in a Copa del Rey round of 64 game in which Celta comfortably won by 5 goals to 1. He produced a solid display which will serve as a significant morale booster.

However, stiff competition in Celta’s backline has limited his chances for regular playing time. Celta coach Claudio Giráldez has stressed the importance of Aidoo rebuilding his confidence, highlighting the need for consistent game time.

As a result, Celta have prompted Aidoo’s representatives to identify a suitable loan opportunity that aligns with both the player’s development and the club’s goals.

A loan in Spain to another La Liga club or La Liga 2 could be a favorable option, as it would allow Aidoo to remain in a familiar environment and playing style. A move abroad has also not been ruled out as it could offer a fresh start and new motivation.

Whichever path is taken, the decision will require careful planning to prioritize Aidoo’s recovery, confidence, and long-term career growth.
