Former Great Olympics and Bechem United coach Bismark Kobi Mensah has stated that the coaching profession in Ghana doesn’t pay much.
The 41-year-old, who currently works with a football academy in Accra, made these statements in an interview, admitting that the job he’s been doing for the past 17 years is not a “good paying” one.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Max FM, Bismark avowed that coaching in Ghana is a good job but not a lucrative one.
“Coaching isn’t a bad job, but sadly, here in Ghana, it doesn’t pay much,” Bismark said.
“It looks like there’s no money in our football. Our clubs lack sponsorship and also struggle to sell jerseys. As a result, the team owners also fail to pay the coaches well”, Bismark Kobi added.
Having coached clubs like Karela United, Hasaacas, Great Olympics, and Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League, Bismark Kobi Mensah didn’t waste time admitting his readiness to get back into coaching.
He also admitted that several Premier League clubs have contacted him in the last few days while disclosing his desire to coach in the GPL again, with Aduana Stars his likeliest destination.
