David Moyes in talks for Everton return after Dyche sacking

David Moyes is reportedly in discussions with Everton about a potential return as manager following Sean Dyche’s dismissal.

Although negotiations are ongoing and Moyes is not the only candidate, sources suggest the former Toffees boss is the leading contender. Talks are expected to progress further on Friday.

Dyche was sacked on Thursday with Everton languishing in 16th place in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone after securing only three wins in 19 league matches this season.

Moyes previously managed Everton from 2002 to 2013, establishing a reputation for stability and competitiveness before departing for an ill-fated stint at Manchester United. He later led West Ham United to Europa Conference League glory in 2023 but has been without a job since leaving the Hammers last season.

Recently, Moyes expressed his reluctance to take roles focused on relegation battles but emphasized his enduring passion for football management:
“Football is in my blood. If there is another chapter, so be it, but I want it to be a positive one.”

Everton will now look to finalize their decision as they aim to steer clear of the relegation zone and secure Premier League survival.
