FIFA adopts 6 new initiatives for the Women’s Development Programme

Share

FIFA has introduced six new initiatives to its Women’s Development Programme under the 2024-2027 Women’s Football Strategy, aiming to strengthen the women’s game worldwide.

These initiatives, available to all 211 Member Associations, complement the existing development programmes by focusing on key areas such as benchmarking in leagues, elite performance, coaching mentorship, and commercial strategies.

The new initiatives include efforts to benchmark women’s leagues globally, mentorship for elite-level coaches, preparation support for women’s national teams, and individual and group scholarships for coach education.

A pilot commercial strategy programme is also part of the enhancements, and it is tailored to meet the specific needs of each association.

These additions build on FIFA’s commitment to advancing women’s football through funding, technical support, access to experts, and equipment.

Last year, FIFA revised its global women’s football strategy to set a clear growth trajectory, and emphasized increased opportunities for women and girls both on and off the pitch, aligning with its broader vision for the sport.
