Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has initiated the process for the club’s presidential elections, the Spanish giants confirmed on Tuesday.

“Following a meeting of the Board of Directors held today… the club president has asked the electoral board to initiate the procedure for the convening of elections for club president and board of directors,” the club stated.

Perez, 77, is widely expected to run unopposed, continuing a trend from the last three elections in 2013, 2017, and 2021.

First elected in 2000, Perez was instrumental in assembling the iconic Galactico era before stepping down in 2006. He returned in 2009 and has since guided Real Madrid through a highly successful period, capturing five La Liga titles and an unprecedented six UEFA Champions League trophies, among other accolades.

Perez’s enduring influence and the team’s success under his leadership solidify his position as one of the most iconic figures in Real Madrid’s history.
