Former Asante Kotoko coach and Ghana international Michael Osei has died in London aged 53 after reportedly suffering from an illness.

One of Osei’s exploits saw him in charge of Bibiani Goldstars in the Ghana Premier League, and reports indicate that he had been in the U.K. since last year.

Michael Osei remains one of Ghana’s finest midfield talents and began to rise through the ranks at Okwahu United before joining the porcupine warriors Asante Kotoko.

In his illustrious career, Osei featured for European clubs like Mainz 05 and Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.

His family sadly broke the news on November 15, 2024 on Friday morning, confirming his unexpected passing.

Many are saddened by the passing of coach Michael Osei and hope that his family finds peace in this difficult moment.

For Ghanaian football, a legend has been lost. However, his immense contribution to the growth of the game remains evident for all, as he coached Ghana’s U23 youth team and also had a smooth transition to the top, beginning to guide clubs such as New Edubiase United, Liberty Professionals and Asante Kotoko to glory.
