Norwich City Coach reveals Forson Amankwah’s Injury is ‘not severe as initially thought’

Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has expressed optimism that the injury sustained by Ghanaian midfielder Forson Amankwah during the FA Cup third-round clash against Brighton & Hove Albion is ‘not severe as initially thought’.

Amankwah was substituted at halftime in the match and was replaced by Kellen Fisher after picking up a knee injury.

The game ultimately ended in defeat for Norwich against the Premier League side.

Providing an update through the club’s official channels, Thorup said: “Forson (Amankwah) had some contact to his knee, so hopefully it’s not too serious. We’ll have to wait and see.”

The 20-year-old midfielder has been in fine form in recent weeks. Only two weeks ago, he came off the bench to score a decisive brace in Norwich’s 2-1 Championship victory over Coventry City.

The FA Cup fixture against Brighton marked Amankwah’s first start for Norwich, and it highlights his growing influence on the team.

So far this season, Forson has registered two goals and two assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.

Norwich will look to return to winning ways when they take on Sheffield United on Saturday, January 18, as fans and teammates alike hope for a swift recovery for the talented Amankwah.
