The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed the highly anticipated Ghana Football Retreat, originally scheduled for November 28, 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
In a statement released by GFA Communications, the association attributed the rescheduling to ongoing consultations with key partners and stakeholders. These discussions emphasized the need for broader participation and deeper dialogue to address critical issues, particularly in light of the Black Stars’ recent struggles.
“Following consultations with key partners and stakeholders, it became imperative to reschedule the Ghana Football Retreat to a later date to ensure the full and meaningful participation of all in this important engagement on the national teams,” the GFA stated.
The retreat was envisioned as a crucial initiative to revive Ghanaian football following the Black Stars’ disappointing performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where the team failed to secure a single victory in six matches.
The GFA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering collaboration among stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of collective input in tackling the challenges facing Ghanaian football.
“A new date for the Retreat will be announced in due course,” the statement added, expressing gratitude to all stakeholders for their “understanding and cooperation.”
The Ghana Football Retreat is expected to provide a platform for critical reflections on the challenges within the national teams and offer actionable solutions for the future. Stakeholders are eagerly anticipating the announcement of a new date for what promises to be a transformative event for the country’s footballing landscape.
