Ghanaian youngster Mattew Anim Cudjoe had an impressive performance, scoring the only goal for his team, Bnei Sakhnin, in a 1-1 draw against M. Petach Tikva in an away match in the Israeli Premier League on Saturday.
The first half ended without a score as both teams struggled to find the back of the net. In the 27th minute, Mattew’s teammate from Cameroon, Kevin Soni, received a red card and was sent off. Despite being a man down, Mattew and his teammates reorganized effectively, leading to Mattew scoring a well-executed goal in the 72nd minute. He was substituted for teammate Ahmad Salma in the 84th minute.
The home team responded, with Bosnian international Renato Gojkovic equalizing in the 86th minute. Despite the late pressure, Mattew’s team held on to secure the draw, and he was the highest-rated player in the match.
The 21-year-old Ghanaian winger has made a significant impact since joining Sakhnin from Dundee United FC. In his last six appearances in the Israeli Ligat ha’Al, Mattew has scored two goals and provided one assist.
