GPL 2024/25: Resilient Legon Cities Battle From A Goal Down To Beat Basake Holy Stars – MW 11

Legon Cities FC came back from a goal down to beat Basake Holy Stars at the University of Ghana Sports stadium in the match week 11 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

The Royals beat the visitors by 2-1 in a game where the Legon Cities were wasteful in the first half of the game. 

Holy Stars after an impressive first 15 minutes drew first blood from the spot kick in the 16th minute kind courtesy of Prince Opoku. 

However, the home team regrouped and pressed on as the captain of the Legon Cities Frank Akoto scored the equalizer from a corner kick which he headed home beautifully in the 33rd minute. 

In the 39th minute, a brilliant shot from Kojo Gyesi doubled the score line for the home side before ending proceedings in the first half of the game. 

This win has moved Legon Cities from the relegation Zone and now placed them 15th on the league log with 3 wins, 2 draws, and 6 losses from 11 games. 

Legon Cities’ win over Basake Holy Stars at the University of Ghana Stadium was also the clubs third win in their last four GPL outings.

Basake Holy Stars drop to 13th place after the defeat on matchday 11, with just 12 points from the opening 11 games. 

Legon Cities will play against Kpando Hearts of Lions in week 12 of the Ghana Premier League on match week 12.
