Antoine Griezmann continued with his stellar form as Atletico Madrid defeated Slovan Bratislava 3-1 at home in the Champions League on Wednesday, marking their 10th consecutive victory across all competitions.

Griezmann scored twice, extending his goal streak to five consecutive matches, and Julian Alvarez added an early strike to secure the win. Atletico now sit 10th in the 36-team standings with 12 points from six matches, while Slovan remain winless and rooted at the bottom.

The hosts took the lead in the 16th minute through Alvarez, who capitalized on poor defending to unleash a pinpoint shot into the top corner. Griezmann doubled the advantage just before halftime with a towering header from Marcos Llorente’s cross.

Slovan briefly threatened a comeback when David Strelec converted a penalty after being fouled by Clement Lenglet. However, Griezmann restored Atletico’s two-goal cushion in the second half, slotting home from close range after being set up in the box.

Despite their dominance, Atletico missed several chances to extend their lead, a point Griezmann acknowledged: “Goals matter a lot in the Champions League. We need to keep improving, but we’re on the right track.”

With 21 goals in their last five matches, Atletico’s attacking prowess has been pivotal to their remarkable run, as they continue to build momentum in Europe and beyond.
