Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has called on his team to be more ruthless in front of goal as they look to end a three-game winless streak in La Liga. The Catalans, who started the season with 11 wins from their first 12 matches and a commanding nine-point lead, now sit just one point ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, who have a game in hand.
Following a 3-1 victory over Espanyol last month, Barcelona’s form has dipped sharply. A 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad, a 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo after surrendering a two-goal lead, and a shock 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Las Palmas have left fans and pundits questioning their recent performances.
Speaking ahead of their clash with Mallorca, Hansi Flick emphasized the need for his players to capitalize on scoring opportunities. “We created chances, but we have to finish better,” he stated. “In football, it’s the goals that count. We can’t afford to waste opportunities.”
Flick dismissed concerns about the team’s attitude, instead urging focus on defensive cohesion and clinical finishing. “We are a young team learning to fight for victories. At the back, we must defend as a unit. In attack, we need to convert our chances.”
Acknowledging the team’s potential, Flick highlighted the efforts of players like Pedri, Pau Cubarsi, and Iñigo Martínez, while reiterating Barcelona’s goal of reclaiming the league title. “There’s a long way to go, but we must fight to win every duel and stay united.”
