“I am tactically ready to coach Black Stars” – Ignatius Osei-Fosu

Ignatius Osei-Fosu, assistant coach of Sudan, has expressed his readiness to take charge of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.

Osei-Fosu, working alongside former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, recently guided Sudan to qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Sudan, along with Angola, advanced from Group F, while Ghana finished third with just three points from six matches.

In an interview with 3Sports, the former coach of Eleven Wonders and Medeama SC shared his confidence in his ability to manage the Black Stars, highlighting the mentorship he has received from Kwesi Appiah as instrumental in his development.

“I think I need to learn more from Kwesi Appiah. But if he says, ‘Ignatius, you’ve been with me for one year now, and the Black Stars are calling you, I think you’re ready,’ I will take the job because tactically, I am capable of handling the Black Stars,” Osei-Fosu said.

Despite Ghana’s recent struggles, Otto Addo, who oversaw the team’s disappointing AFCON qualification campaign, is expected to retain his position as head coach.
