Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has left his thoughts on the words of his critics calling for him to resign, and has revealed he will not be stepping down from his role any time soon.
Ghana fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday night in what was a horror show of defending, summing up their unimpressive run in the qualifying series.
Speaking in his post match interview, Otto Addo played down talks about resigning, and insisted he is here to stay as he has a strong mentality in dealing with difficult situations.
“I’m not a person who can resign. If I had done this, I’d never have become a player or even a coach”, he said.
Addo also touched on the heavily-required apology many fans have called for, and said that he is ‘sorry for the current disappointment’ and is aiming to reverse the situation for the better.
“I am ready to apologize. I am so sorry that we did not do well and qualify. I am sorry because I know all Ghanaians are hurt. I am so sorry.”
Ghanaians are however far from satisfied with Addo’s words and still hope that a new management heads the Black Stars heading into the World Cup Qualifiers next year in March.
