A team of delegates from the world-renowned International Management Group (IMG) is in Nigeria with a commitment to work with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to improve Nigerian football.
The team as part of their mission also discussed with the Nigeria Premier Football League to improve the country’s football at all levels.Â
The IMG team, led by Robyn Cox (Managing Director, Africa), included Mr. Rotimi Pedro (Managing Consultant, AfroSports), and Augustine Jay Jay Okocha (former Nigeria captain and NNPC Brand Ambassador).Â
Other members of the IMG delegation included Mr. Femi Soneye (NNPC), Mr. Deji Omotoyinbo (veteran journalist and content creator), Mr Olukayode Thomas, and six other persons.
The team was welcomed by NFF 2nd Vice President/NPFL Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, and the NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.Â
Several other members were in attendance including the Nigeria Football Federation Director of Media & Communications, Dr. Ademola Olajire; Director of Finance & Admin, Mr. Paulinus Anameje, Director of Legal, Barr. Okey Obi, Director of Competitions, Ms. Ruth David, Deputy Director, Technical, Mrs. Faith Ben-Anuge, Head of Audit, Mr. Godday Iyere, TMS Manager, Mr. Nasiru Jibril and, Head of ICT, Tasiu Riskuwa Shehu. The IMG team was also at the NPFL offices.
The meeting was a successful one with both teams exchanging ideas, perspectives, and objectives. Both parties also cross-fertilize in the coming weeks and months on the best ways to take Nigeria football to new heights.
The IMG and the NFF also discussed the feasible steps to elevate the country’s football ecosystem and the other industries that can spin off from a healthy and sustainable football economy.
The meeting is expected to yield fruitful results in the coming months, with both organizations bent on pulling strings together to help transform the fate of Nigerian football.Â
