Liverpool manager Arne Slot has candidly stated that facing Manchester City this Sunday in the Premier League makes it a dangerous weekend as both teams will be aiming for all three points.
Coming off the back of a brilliant run and win against European winners Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Liverpool won at home in a 2-0 win but face another tough test in Pep Guardiola’s Man City, who have no victory in their last six matches.
Arne Slot said in a Sky Sports interview that City remain a threat and he expects the game to be a dangerous one with the champions expected to make a strong case for themselves.
“We like to be in this position, but of course we also know that City doesn’t like the way it is now and if you’ve won the league four times in a row, it means its a dangerous starting position for both teams. Its a dangerous weekend, they will wanna show why they’ve won the league four times in a row and we wanna show that we can compete against them ”
“We wanna be their compatriots, we have been their compatriots for a few years, they’ve always been on top of us except one season and that’s why this game, just like the Real Madrid one is a great game”
The two English sides face each other on Sunday at Anfield, with Liverpool considered favorites to win this one.
For Arne Slot, a win would move his team 11 points clear of their rivals on the day and edge him closer to his first Premier League title in his debut season in England.
Also, with City’s brilliant performances in the second round of previous seasons, a victory would be the best time to make a plausible comeback from them unlikely.
