Leicester City forward Jordan Ayew made an immediate impact off the bench, scoring a late consolation goal in a 2-1 Premier League defeat to Chelsea.
The Ghanaian striker, who had been a fitness doubt following an injury sustained during the international break, defied expectations to feature in the matchday squad and deliver a noteworthy performance.
Chelsea started strongly, taking the lead in the 15th minute when Nicolas Jackson capitalized on a defensive lapse by Wout Faes, slotting the ball past goalkeeper Mads Hermansen with the outside of his foot.
The home side extended their advantage in the 75th minute as Enzo Fernandez reacted quickly to a rebound after Hermansen parried Jackson’s header.
Ayew’s goal came deep into injury time, converting from the penalty spot to give Leicester their only shot on target in a lackluster display. While the strike offered little solace in terms of the result, it underscored the 32-year-old’s consistent form, building on his stunning free-kick for the Black Stars in their recent AFCON qualifier against Angola.
Leicester City will hope Jordan Ayew ‘s momentum sparks a turnaround after the goal against Chelsea, as they prepare for a tough away fixture against Brentford. Despite the team’s struggles, Ayew’s resilience and goal-scoring touch remain a bright spot in their campaign.
