Amorim says his side struggled to contain Kamaldeen Sulemana

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says his team struggled to defend the threat of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana during their Premier League win over Southampton at Old Trafford on Thursday, January 16.

Kamaldeen proved to be a constant problem down Southampton’s left flank and completed the most dribbles in the match, consistently outpacing United defender Leny Yoro.

His electrifying runs and ability to exploit spaces caused multiple problems for the Red Devils’ defense all game.

Despite a late hat-trick from Amad Diallo securing a 3-1 win for Manchester United in the final 12 minutes, Amorim says Kamaldeen’s impressive performance was tough to handle.

“They [Southampton] did a very good job creating spaces between the lines,” Amorim said  in his post-match interview. “Their number 20 [Kamaldeen Sulemana], with a lot of space behind him, we had some difficulties stopping that player.”

The Black Stars winger continues to earn plaudits for his performances in the Premier League, showing his flair and ability to trouble the most organized defenses.

However, his final product or output will need to improve if he aims to solidify his place as one of the most consistent wingers in the world.
