President John Mahama has appointed Kofi Adams, the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, as Ghana’s new Minister of Sports and Recreation. The nomination, part of the third batch of ministerial appointments, awaits parliamentary vetting and approval.

Adams, 49, replaces Mustafa Ussif, who served under former President Nana Akufo-Addo. With a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology specializing in the Epidemiology of Parasitic Diseases, Adams brings a unique blend of academic expertise, educational experience, and political acumen to the role.

In a prior interview with GhOne TV, Adams shared his enthusiasm for grassroots sports development, stating, “I will gladly accept the Sports Minister position if appointed. Let’s return to grassroots sports and implement it effectively.”

As Sports Minister, Adams is anticipated to tackle pressing challenges such as upgrading sports infrastructure, securing better funding for national teams, and boosting Ghana’s performance on the international stage.
