Former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi has made known his dissatisfaction the with Kurt Okraku-led administration, revealing that the new leadership has not performed well in their tenure of office.

Nyantakyi led the GFA for more than 10 years before he stepped down after corruption allegations and a subsequent FIFA ban, and has criticized efficiency of football under Kurt’s tenure.

Kurt was elected into office in 2019 and was re-elected unopposed in 2023.

Since then, he has faced multiple challenges, including poor performances from the national teams.

The Black Stars have endured two straights exits from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and recently failed to book a slot at for AFCON 2025.

Okraku’s administration may want to highlight the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup as a positive, yet even that campaign ended in the group stage.

“Football is like pregnancy, and we can all see that all is not well with our game,” Nyantakyi told Lawson FM.

“Kurt Okraku’s administration is not doing well, and that is the truth. I don’t know what is wrong, but we can all see that things are not going right.”

Nyantakyi also touched on the frequent coaching changes under Okraku, and stated that the GFA has brought in many coaches in five years.

Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo is under pressure after the AFCON 2025 qualification failure, with many calling for his sack despite hesitation from the GFA.

“In five years, the current GFA has appointed five coaches, which is not a sign of a stable administration. These frequent changes have not helped,” Kwesi Nyantakyi added.

In the AFCON qualifiers, the Black Stars grabbed only three points from six games; two each against Sudan, Niger and Angola as they failed to win a game.

Ghana’s Herbert Mensah, the President of World Rugby’s African Association has even weighed in on the matter and said that ‘Ghana is no longer a great sporting nation.’
