Barcelona and Spain’s rising star, Lamine Yamal, has been named the winner of the 2024 Golden Boy award, an honor recognizing the best European men’s player under 21.
The prestigious award, established by Italian publication Tuttosport, is decided through a points-based voting system by journalists across Europe.
At just 17 years old, Lamine Yamal has already made a significant impact on the footballing world. He became a regular starter for Barcelona last season and played a pivotal role in Spain’s triumph at Euro 2024. The young winger was named the tournament’s best young player, contributing one goal and four assists.
Yamal’s incredible year also saw him claim the Kopa Trophy in October, awarded during the Ballon d’Or ceremony to the best under-21 player globally.
This season, the teenage sensation has continued his remarkable form, recording six goals and eight assists in just 16 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona.
Yamal succeeds Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham, who won the Golden Boy award in 2023.
