Asante Kotoko has named club legend Malik Jabir as their new technical director, marking a significant return for the two-time CAF Champions League winner. The club announced the appointment via their official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting their enthusiasm for welcoming back the celebrated football figure to the technical team.
Jabir’s return comes as he replaces Kwasi Appiah, the former Sudan national team coach, who previously held the position. However, Asante Kotoko confirmed that Appiah will remain with the club as part of the management team, continuing to contribute his extensive experience to their strategic operations.
Earlier in the week, Asante Kotoko made headlines by removing head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum from the Interim Management Committee, instructing him to concentrate solely on his coaching duties.
The appointment of Jabir is seen as a pivotal move as the Porcupine Warriors look to regain their competitive edge and push for domestic titles. The team is coming off a difficult run that included four consecutive losses before securing a 2-0 victory over Aduana FC, signaling a potential turning point for the season.
