Hearts of Oak defeated Immigration FC 4-0 to advance to the last 32 of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Phobians were ruthless in the Sunday afternoon fixture, putting the Division Two side to the sword with all goals scored in the second half.
The Premier League side was given a scare in the first half after being held to a scoreless first 45 minutes.
Hearts of Oak grabbed the opening goal in the 53rd minute through Martin Karikari. The attacking midfielder’s well-taken shot came off the left corner of the immigration post after a lovely dummy.
The Accra-based club will double their lead 4 minutes later through Mawuli Wayo. The attacker will tap into an empty net after being set up by Mohammed Hussein.
The home side will triple the lead again in the 68th minute. Mawuli Wayo grabbed a brace with a lovely looping finish over the Immigration FC goalkeeper.
The 11-time FA winners will put the icing on the cake with 5 minutes of regulation time to play. Hearts midfielder Salim Adams will beautifully set up substitute Stephen Appiah to round off the scoring.
The win for Hearts of Oak books them a place in the last 32 of the MTN FA Cup. The result also boosts their confidence heading into their ‘Super Clash’ encounter against arch-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko on December 13.
