Former Ghanaian football captain Stephen Appiah has been appointed Vice Chairman of the newly constituted Black Stars Management Committee, marking another chapter in his post-playing career.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) restructured the committee following the Black Stars’ disappointing performance in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. Dr. Randy Abbey, a member of the GFA Executive Council, will chair the new committee, with Appiah providing support as Vice Chairman.

Appiah, renowned for captaining Ghana to its first-ever FIFA World Cup in 2006 and leading the team again in 2010, brings his wealth of experience to the role. After retiring, he served as team manager, further cementing his leadership credentials.

Joining the committee are Samuel Aboabire, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, Moses Armah, President of Medeama Sporting Club, and Richard Nsenkyire, President of FC Samartex 1996. Their collective responsibilities include overseeing operations, matchday activities, and managing relationships with sponsors and partners.

The reconstitution aims to bolster the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with a focus on revitalizing the team after recent setbacks.
