“We did not play well against FC Samartex” – Abubakar Ouatarra

Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouatarra says his team were far from their best level and ‘did not play well’ in their goalless stalemate with Samartex on matchday 17 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

Hearts looked flawed in front of goal and failed to convert the decent opportunities created on the day to keep their title hopes alive.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Ouatarra stated that his side need to show the desire and consistency if they want to challenge for the title after a disappointing performance.

“We wanted to win today, but unfortunately, we didn’t score. We didn’t create enough chances; we managed only one or two. Unfortunately, we didn’t play well enough to score,” he said.

Ouatarra also praised Samartex goalkeeper Kofi Baah for his impressive performance, which denied Hearts of Oak key scoring opportunities.

“I think the goalkeeper of Samartex did well, especially with one or two crucial saves, particularly the last one,” he added.

Up next, the Phobians take on Holy Stars in their next fixture, aiming to bounce back to winning ways and keep their title chances on track.
